How to be Ulzzang: Makeup
With KCulture becoming increasingly popular through media and spread of culture, more and more people are desiring to become like these "ulzzangs' they see on the internet.
First!! What is "ulzzang"? well since 얼짱 or ulzzang is a korean word, let's figure out where it comes from! Ulzzang basically means "best face" coming from the word face "eol" and best "jjang" which can be spelled as "eoljjang" "uljjang" or most popularly "ulzzang" This typically describes people with light milky perfect skin, large dolly eyes, and makeup that centers around using eyeliner. Real ulzzangs are typically famous internet celebrities that gain popularity and fan bases through professionally taken photos. They often become models for online malls and such.
Now that you know what an ulzzang is~ Let's get started on the simple tips to become an ulzzang~~ ^O^
Face~
Ulzzangs are well known for their:
To get clear, perfect, milky skin, you need to take good care of your face which has to do with good cleansing habits ^^
1. Before washing, place a hot towel on top of your face for twenty seconds. The steam will open up your pores and allow all the dirty stuff to come out of the deep parts of your skin and be washed away~
2. Pick one a cleanser that most benefits you and your target problems such as acne targeting or discoloration fixing. Work it onto your face in CIRCLES! This allows gentle and efficient cleansing
3. Rinse it by splashing water onto your face. Make sure to keep your face low and close to the sink so the water doesn't spill. Splashing the water onto your face keeps your face from being irritated and scrubbed t
oo harshly. 4. After cleaning off the cleanser make sure to let your face air dry or pat it down with the previous wet towel. This lets allows moisture to have time to soak into your skin.
5. Apply moisturizer and ta dahh~ cleansing complete. I myself use this routine every day and it really helps keep my skin clear, smooth, and hydrated ^^

Base Makeup~
You will need:
- Moisturizer with SPF
- BB cream / CC cream (you may also opt to use a little bit of foundation)
- Highlighter
1. Pat moisturizer onto face and let it absorb
2. If you are light skinned, apply bb cream or cc cream onto face by dotting it at the forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin then blend it out. If you have darker skin, mix foundation with bb cream to make a lightly tinted bb cream mix and go ahead and dot and blend like above
3. To get pretty glowy skin like the Korean Ulzzangs and Korean Idols, dot and blend out highlighter on your t-zone (bottom of your forehead and down your nose), onto your cheek bones, on your chin, and your cupids bow. Highlighting these key areas will keep your face looking small and cute ^^
4. To get a small, 3D face, you will need a smooth rich bronzer.

Eyes~
You will need
- Eyeliner (pencil and gel work best)
- Neutral Eyeshadows
- A shimmery eyeshadow
- Circle Lenses
- Mascara
So looking to the left, you can see the basic shape of the ulzzang eye~ They are all dolly and super big ^^ To achieve this look
1. Wear circle lenses. If you want a natural enlargement stick to 14.0-14.5 mm diameter. If you want something more dolly you can go up to 15 mm~
2. Notice that all their eyeliner elongates the eyes by enhancing the shape. When applying the eyeliner follow the shape of your eye by keeping minimal wing and keeping the liner going downwards.
3. You can use eye shadows, but keep it minimal too; Ulzzangs are characterized by their natural effortless dolly style with eyeliner being the main point of the makeup.
4. You may opt to color in the bottom of your downwards wing, but it all depends on what kind of look you are going for~
5. There is a small puff under your eye that is dubbed "aeygo sal" aeygo meaning cute, and sal meaning fat. The noticable fat under your eye makes you appear younger so dab a shimmery eyeshadow in a neutral color like tan and line the fat and corners of your eyes
6. Use mascara to pump up your lashes
